Research on the application of information and communication technology in the electric power industry is a complex systematic project. It involves not only high technologies such as communication technology, computer technology and automation technology, but also fields including communication networks, network security and information security.Accordingly, this paper first expounds the overview of information and communication technology and its development trend in the electric power industry. Secondly, it analyzes the important significance of the application of information and communication technology in the electric power industry.
